FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Knowledge Base?

A research notebook. You collect what you find about a topic, and it reads it all for you: you can ask questions and get answers drawn from your own sources, each pointing back to where it came from.

How is it different from ChatGPT?

A general chatbot answers from whatever it learned somewhere on the internet. Knowledge Base answers from the sources you chose, and shows you which ones, so you can check them.

What can I add to a notebook?

Web pages, YouTube videos, PDFs, Google Docs, and your own notes. Paste a link, drop in a file, or type.

Do I need to set anything up?

No. Sign in and make a notebook. There is nothing to install, and no AI key to find: it works out of the box.

Can it make things up?

Any AI can get things wrong, which is why every answer points back to the sources it used. Research from published papers goes further: it only cites papers it actually found, so every reference is real and can be read.

Is my material private?

Yes. Only you can see your notebooks. Google’s Gemini does the reading, and your material is never used to train AI models. The privacy policy has the detail.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes, in your phone’s browser, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. On Android, you can share links from other apps straight into a notebook.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, any time. Delete a source or a notebook, or delete everything from Settings.

What does it cost?

Knowledge Base is part of a Meta-Me subscription: £8 a month, with a 30-day free trial, and it includes every Meta-Me app. See pricing.

Does it work with the other Meta-Me apps?

Yes. Your AI agent in Desk can search and add to your notebooks, so a voice note on a walk can become a source by the time you get home.
